Jira and Airtask, synced both ways.
Keep working in Jira. Once connected, Jira issues appear as Airtask tasks, time logged in Airtask pushes back to Jira as worklogs, and issue changes flow into the task activity feed.
- Bidirectional, configurable
- OAuth or API token
- Daily scheduled sync and webhook
Quick answer
Does Airtask integrate with Jira?
Yes. Airtask syncs projects, tasks, and worklogs with Jira. Jira issues appear as Airtask tasks, time logged in Airtask pushes back to Jira as worklogs, and issue changes flow into the task activity feed. Sync direction, field mapping, and project mapping are all configurable, connected by OAuth or an API token.
What syncs
One connection, two systems that stay in step.
Jira issues to Airtask tasks
- Summary, description, status, assignee
- Story points, due date, issue type, reporter
- Subtask hierarchy preserved
Comments, attachments and history
- Comments and attachments sync both ways
- Inbound attachments capped at 5 MB, off by default
- Issue history appears in the task Activity feed
Worklogs
- Airtask time entries push to Jira as worklogs
- Worklogs are outbound only
- Status stays inbound-only, from Jira to Airtask
Flow directions
Which way the data moves.
Direction is configurable: Bidirectional, Inbound only (Jira to Airtask), or Outbound only (Airtask to Jira).
Jira to Airtask

Before you start
Choose how you authenticate, and confirm matching emails.
Connect from Settings, Integrations, the Jira tile (Super Admin).
- OAuth (recommended), or
- A Jira Base URL
- A Service Account Email
- An API Token
- For OAuth, no tokens are needed, just an authorization popup. For an API token, use a Jira Base URL (e.g. https://your-domain.atlassian.net), a Service Account Email, and an API Token from a service account.
- Jira users are matched to Airtask users by email, falling back to display name. Confirm your Jira users have a visible email that matches their Airtask account.
Setup
Connect once, then configure how the two systems stay in step.
An Airtask Super Admin connects Jira and configures how the two systems sync.
Start the connection
On the Jira tile, click Connect with Jira for OAuth, or enter your Jira Base URL, Service Account Email, and API Token for token-based auth.
Authorize or test
For OAuth, approve the request in the Jira popup. For a token, click Test Connection to confirm the credentials work, then save.
Set the sync direction
Choose Bidirectional, Inbound only, or Outbound only.
Choose field toggles
Pick which fields sync each way. Inbound can include task creation, summary, description, status, assignee, story points, due date, comments, and attachments. Outbound can include summary, description, assignee, story points, due date, worklogs, comments, and attachments.
Set the Story Points Field ID
Enter the Jira custom-field ID used for story points.
Decide how to handle unmapped users
Choose to skip, create a new user, or use a fallback user when a Jira user has no Airtask match.
Map your projects
Open Project Mappings and link an Airtask project to a Jira project by its project key, or turn on Auto-create projects on import.
Run Auto-Map, then sync
Line up accounts by email, then display name, before your first full sync.
Settings Center
Everything lives in Settings Center.
Airtask brings Jira integration setup into one Settings Center panel. Connect once, configure the sync direction and field mapping, and the scheduled sync runs daily by default.
- Jira connection via OAuth or an API token
- Sync Direction: Bidirectional, Inbound only, or Outbound only
- Field toggles for what syncs each way, plus a Story Points Field ID
- Project Mappings by Jira project key, with optional auto-create on import
- Scheduled sync daily by default, plus on-demand Trigger Sync and a near real-time webhook

Troubleshooting
If something looks off, check these first.
Most sync issues trace back to credentials, mapping, or permissions. Here's what to check before contacting support.
The connection test fails
Recheck the Jira Base URL, service account email, and API token, or reconnect via OAuth.
Users are missing or unmatched
Confirm Jira users have a visible email matching their Airtask account, then run Auto-Map. Review the Recent Sync Errors panel for details.
Changes aren't appearing quickly
The scheduled sync is daily. Use Trigger Sync for an immediate run, or configure the webhook for near-real-time inbound updates.

Book a demoFAQs
Jira integration, answered.
The questions teams ask before connecting Jira.
Does Airtask integrate with Jira?
Yes. Airtask syncs projects, tasks, and worklogs with Jira. You connect it in Settings, Integrations, on the Jira tile.
Which direction does the data flow?
It's configurable. Choose Bidirectional, Inbound only (Jira to Airtask), or Outbound only (Airtask to Jira).
Do I need an API token, or can I use OAuth?
Either. OAuth is recommended and needs no tokens. An API token works too, using a Jira Base URL, a service account email, and an API token.
How are Jira and Airtask users matched?
By email, falling back to display name. Run Auto-Map to line up accounts before your first full sync.
Do worklogs sync both ways?
No. Airtask time entries push to Jira as worklogs, outbound only. Status is inbound-only, from Jira to Airtask.
Is the Jira integration included in my plan?
Native integrations are included on the Plus plan and up.
